Magic Triangle Jazz Series presents Two Trombone Trios at UMASS/Amherst on Thursday, February 23



The Magic Triangle Jazz Series, produced by WMUA-91.1FM and the Fine Arts Center at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, is presenting Two Trombone Trios in concert on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at Beranson Recital Hall.

The double billing features Frank Lacy on trombone; Andrew Drury on drums and Kevin Ray on bass, plus the Ray Anderson Trio featuring Ray Anderson on trombone; Dean Johnson on bass and Eric McPherson on drums.

General Admission is $12; and $7 for students. Tickets can be purchased online.

Keyser is a member of the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra, Professor Emeritus and Special Assistant to the Chancellor at MIT, and author of several books, including Mens et Mania: The MIT Nobody Knows.

JFK Library Presents African Dance and Drumming on February 22


The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston is presenting a special show called Djembe dell'Arte - African Dance and Drumming, on Tuesday, February 22, 2012 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., as part of Black History Month and school vacation week.

Aardvark Jazz Orchestra performs at Scullers Jazz Club on February 22


The Aardvark Jazz Orchestra is performing at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 8:00 p.m.   Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online.

Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra Performing in Cambridge on February 18



The Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra is performing in concert at the YMCA Theatre on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 8:00 p.m.

The JCA will play the music of David Harris, Darrell Katz, Bill Lowe, Bob Pilkington, Warren Senders, Hiro Honshuku and Norm Zocher.

New Black Eagle Jazz Band Performs at Rogers Center in N. Andover on February 17


The New Black Eagle Jazz Band, one of New England's foremost disciples of the New Orleans jazz tradition, is performing in concert at the Rogers Center for the Arts at Merrimack College in North Andover on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.

The band formed in 1971 and since then has played in concert halls around the world.

Jazz singer and songwriter Gretchen Parlato is performing two shows for Valentine's Day at the Regattabar Jazz Club at the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square, Cambridge, on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Berklee College Wins Nine Grammys at 54th Grammy Awards Ceremony

Congratulations to Berklee College of Music, whose alumni and faculty took home nine Grammy at the 54th Grammy Awards Ceremony last night in Los Angeles. Read the whole story here.

The winners were recognized for their work in various categories and fields, including rap, songwriting, jazz and blues.  With Sunday's awards, Berklee alumni have now won 214 Grammy awards
