First annual Martha Vineyard Jazz Festival runs August 6-13, featuring jazz performances, art exhibits and book signings

The 1st annual Martha's Vineyard Jazz Festival kicks off on Saturday, August 6, and runs through Saturday, August 13, 2011 on Martha's Vineyard, Cape Cod.

Some of the featured performers include jazz vocalist Nnenna Freelon, saxophonist Elan Trotman, Antonio Hart Quartet and Warren Wolf Quartet.

In addition, the festival features an opening day parade, an art exhibit and book signings by authors who have written books about jazz.  For a full schedule of activities, click here.

Jazz Violinist Ada Pasternak Performing at BOND Lounge in Boston on Wednesday, August 3


Violinist Ada Pasternak is performing on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at BOND Lounge at the Langham Boston Hotel from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. 

Born in Moscow, Russia, Pasternak moved to the United States and studied with her aunt, Aysa Meshberg in New York.  She received a Presidential Scholarship to Berklee College of Music, where she studied performance. 

BOND Restaurant & Lounge is open seven days a week, offering gourmet sandwiches for lunch, afternoon tea, and global cuisine for dinner, plus an extensive wine list and distinctive cocktails. A special jazz menu is available on Wednesdays

The Fringe is performing at the Lily Pad in Cambridge Massachusetts on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 10:22 p.m. Admission is $10.

Formed in the 1970s and dedicated to free-association jazz, The Fringe consists of tenor sax player George Garzone, drummer Bob Gullotti, and bass player  John Lockwood.

Norway's jazz clarinet master Felix Peikli and his quarter perform at the Regattabar Courtyard Series on Monday, August 1, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Courtyard at the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square, Cambridge.  The event is free and open to the public.

The concert is part of the Berklee Summer Concert Series.
