Newton Jazz & Wine Festival Presents Jazz-in-the-Yard on September 30


The Newton Jazz & Wine Festival is wrapping up this year's festivities with a Jazz-in-the-Yard concert at the Jackson Homestead in Newton on Sunday, September 30, 2012 with a free concert from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Live performers include Cruzamente, an all-women Cape Verdean band, Fred Woodward Trio, Rusty Scott Trio, and Persian Blue.  Here are directions to the Jackson Homestead.

Berklee BeanTown Festival Underway in Boston Today, Rain or Shine!


(Saturday, September 29, 2012) - The 12th annual Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival opened today at noon in Boston's South End, offering an amazing line-up of great jazz performers.  The event runs to 6:00 p.m, and is free and open to the public!

Cirque du Soleil’s Saltimbanco at Boston's Agganis Arena on October 31-November 4


Cirque du Soleil's Saltimbanco, an acrobatic celebration of urban life, is coming to the Agganis Arena at Boston University for eight shows from October 31 through November 4, 2012.

After touring the world for two decades, the show is winding down and Boston is one of its final stops before it returns to Montreal in December to disband.  It's a great chance to see this extravaganza of acrobatic feats enhanced by a polyrhythmic live band of world class musicians.

Singer-songwriter Melody Gardot is performing at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 8:00 p.m.   Tickets are $36-46 and can be purchased online or at the venue.

Gardot is on tour to promote her third album, The Absence.

The concert is the lead-in to the 12th annual Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival taking place on Saturday, September 29, 2012 in Boston's South End.

Jazz Pianist Claire Ritter Performs at Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center on September 27


Jazz pianist and composer Claire Ritter is celebrating the release of her 10th CD with a concert at the Multicultural Arts Center in Cambridge on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 8:00 p.m.

Ritter is joined by  Stan Strickland, on  flute and bass clarinet; vocalist Dominique Eade, and Takaaki Masuko on percussion.

The Magic Triangle Series, which showcases Black music around the world, is presenting four musicians with distinct backgrounds - Satoko Fujii, Carla Kihlstedt, Natsuki Tamura and MatthiasBossi - to perform three duos at Berzason Recital Hall at the Fine Arts Center, University of Massachusetts in Amherst, on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 8:00 p.m.

Tickets to the show are $10 general admission and $5 for students.
