Singer Songwriter Josh Logan Performs at Boston's BOND Lounge on Wednesday, January 11

Soulful vocalist Josh Logan and his band performs at the BOND Lounge | Restaurant at the Boston Langham Hotel on Wednesday, January 11, 2012,  from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.

The singer/songwriter writer from New Hampshire has blended a unique sound of soul/blues/pop/rock that has won him fans across the country.

The BOND Jazz Experiment highlights emerging artists and accomplished performers covering the jazz spectrum, including classic jazz from the American Songbook, rhythm and blues and funk.  BOND  is open seven days a week, offering gourmet sandwiches for lunch, afternoon tea, and global cuisine for dinner, plus an extensive wine list and distinctive cocktails. A special jazz menu is available on Wednesdays. Greek and Cuban Jazz Masters Perform at Scullers Jazz Club on Wednesday, January 11


Two masters on their instruments - guitarist Spiros Exaras and pianist Elio Villafranca - are performing together in concert at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online or at the door.

Exaras, from Greece, is a versatile guitarist who studied classical music and composition at Athens Conservatory, before branching out into jazz as well as a variety of movie and theater soundtracks.

Villafranca is from western Cuba and is one of the country's foremost jazz pianists and composers.  In 2010 he was nominated for a Grammy for Best Traditional World Music Album.

NEA Jazz Masters Ceremony and Concert on Tuesday, January 10 at Lincoln Center


(January 10, 2012) -- National Endowment for the Arts is honoring the 2012 Jazz Masters this evening in a ceremony and concert taking place at Lincoln Center in New York City. You can watch a live webcast of the ceremony starting at 7:30 p.m.

This year's awardees include Jack DeJohnette, Sheila Jordan, Jimmy Owens, Von Freeman and Charlie Haden. You can see video tributes to these artists here.

Street Sounds: Dialogues with Black Existence, at Hibernian Hall in Roxbury on January 21-22


Street Sounds: Dialogues with Black Existence  is being performed at Hibernian Hall in Dudley Square, Roxbury, on January 21-22, 2012.

General admission is $20, and $10 for students and seniors.   You can order tickets online or buy them at the door.

Written by Ed Bullins, a pioneer in the Black Arts movement during the Civil Rights era,  Street Sounds was first performed at La Mama Experimental Theater Club in New York in 1970.

Now it has been recast by William Lowe, who has made a selection of the script, so evocative of the 1960s, and interspersed his own original music for jazz ensemble.  Gilbert McCauley is the director.

International Guitar Night tour comes to Regattabar in Cambridge on Wednesday, January 11


International Guitar Night, the world's premier touring guitar festival, is coming to the Regattabar Jazz Club in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.   Tickets are $25 and can be ordered online.
