Milton Academy Jazz Band Pays Tribute to Cannonball Adderley on October 15
The award-winning Milton Academy Jazz Band, led by jazz musician and educator Bob Sinicrope, is performing a special tribute to jazz saxophone legend Cannonball Adderley this Friday evening, October 15, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
The concert is free and open to the public and takes place at King Theater in the Kellner Performing Arts Center on campus. For directions, click here.
Julius "Cannonball" Adderley was an important jazz figure starting in the 1950s. Influenced by Benny Carter and Charlie Parker, he played with the Miles Davis Quintet and later became a band leader and composer in his own right. He worked closely with his younger brother, cornetist Nat Adderley, throughout his career.
