The Salem Jazz & Soul Festival and the City of Salem have joined forces to present the 3rd annual Jazz Appreciation Day in Salem on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, features jazz musicians from the Salem State College and Salem High School bands, who will play jazz standards. The event takes place at the community room of the Salem Five Bank, located at 210 Essex Street in downtown Salem.
In addition to the music, there is a special art display by students at Salem grade schools, based on the theme, What Music Means to Me. The public is invited to vote for their favorite piece of art; the winners will be announced at the Salem Jazz & Soul Festival on August 18-19, 2012.
